D.B.S.L. 1st Over 35's 2013-2014 Finalists

The 1st Over 35's tournament of 2013-2014 was played in Terry Rogers Snooker Club on 13th October 2013. A new handicap system
was created for the new season which will be more reflective of a player's ability within the division they compete in.
Number 1 seed Brendan Thomas (Roadstone Select)
won the tournament beating Paul Smith (Roadstone 'A') 3-1 in the final.
Brendan had earlier beaten
Robert Garvey (Roadstone 'D') 3-1 in the the quarter-final and Paul McGaughran (Terry Rogers 'B') 3-1 in the semi-final.
Paul made the final by first defeating
Richard Hayes (Howth CYMS) 3-2 in the last 16, Alan Cullen (Willows 'A') 3-1 in the quarter-finals, and
then Dave Carton (Willows 'B') 3-1 in the semi-final. Brendan made the highest break, a 54.
The new handicap system created a lot of close matches, most notably Paul Smith's match against Richard Hayes, and
Paul McGaughran's match with Alan Byrne,
which both were won 3-2 on the final black. It is hoped more players will enter the next tournament. A big thanks to Tony Nolan and John Duffy
for their wonderful hospitality
throughout the day.
