Ton up for Doherty

Congratulations to Andrew Doherty (Pioneers Blue) who made a clinical 119 break in his league match this week against Diarmuid O’Connor (Pioneers White).

The DBSL would like to congratulate Ivor Fitzpatrick, of Pioneers Blue, on winning the DBSL Handicap Series event 2, held in Pioneer Snooker Club today. Ivor beat the much liked gentleman Tommy Murphy, of Roadstone D, 2-0 in the final, getting a 56 break in the last frame.

Ivor’s run to the final started off with a 2-0 win over Jack Sheridan, newly added to Pioneers Pink team, in the last 16. The following quarter final match was tight, with Sean Hart of Pioneers White putting up a great fight, but narrowly losing 2-1 to Ivor. Ivor stepped up a gear in his semi final match with Peter Conroy, of Pioneers Black, knocking in a fine break of 72 to win the match 2-0 and progress to the final.

On the other side of the draw, Tommy had a great run to the Final, beating Aidan Phelan (Transport Club) 2-0 in the pre lim and beating Brian McPhee 2-1 (Pioneers Blue) in the Last 16, advancing through the tournament where he beat Padraig Quinlan (Glenalbyn Blue) 2-0 in the Quarter Final, and beat Niall Lawless (Pioneers Black) 2-1 in the semi final.

Ivor also had the highest break of the tournament with a 72 break in his semi final match.

DBSL would like to thank Tournament Director Niall Lawless, and the Pioneer Snooker Club for their fine hospitality throughout the day. Once again, thanks to Mark Dunne for supplying great food to keep the lads going throughout the day.

Congratulations to Paul Dunne (Transport Club) who compiled a fabulous 110 break in his league match this week against Clayton Cregan (Pioneers Blue).

The DBSL were saddened to hear of the passing of Nicky Clarke.
Nicky was a Dublin league player for many years, he also was a very popular player on the national circuit back when snooker was in its heyday and I’m sure many people reading this will have many fond memories of Nicky down through the years.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Nickys family and friends at this sad time.
May He Rest in Peace.

The DBSL would like to congratulate Niall “The Dog” Lawless, of Pioneers Black, on winning the first instalment of the DBSL Handicap Series, held in Roadstone Snooker Club this Saturday. Niall narrowly beat the granite Ivor Fitzpatrick, of Pioneers Blue, in an exciting decider to take the match and first title of the 24/25 season.

Niall struggled a little early on in the day but managed to pull through a close pre lim match against Mustaffa from Roadstone D, beating him 2-1 before moving on and beating Clayton Cregan, of Pioneers Blue, 2-0. Lawless then faced his good friend Fergal Hagen, also of Pioneers Black, in the quarter final but no love was lost between them and they both battled hard to take the mach to a decider, with Lawless coming out on top 2-1.

Niall faced a dogged Daniel Brcko, of Pioneers Pink, in the semi final. Daniel, who had a great run to the semi final ran out of steam and Niall took advantage and closed out the match with a commanding 2-0 win.

On the other side of the draw, Ivor Fitzpatrick had a great run to the Final, beating Lenny Malone (Roadstone C) 2-1 in the pre lim and beating Cian Murtagh 2-1 (Pioneers Black) in the Last 16, before taking on fellow blue team mate Andrew Doherty in the quarter final, beating him 2-0 and progressing to the semi final where he beat Peter Conroy (Pioneers Black), 2-1 to book his place in the final.

Ivor also had the highest break of the tournament with a 90 break in the final against Niall.

As always, DBSL would like to thank Tournament Director Stephen Merrigan, and the Roadstone Snooker Club for their fine hospitality throughout the day.
