The DBSL would like to congratulate Ivor Fitzpatrick, of Pioneers Blue, on winning the 6th DBSL series handicap event, held in the Pioneers Snooker Club. This is a double congratulations to Ivor as he is now the Dublin Series Ranking No.1 for this season by winning this event.
Ivor, once again, got off to good start, beating Dehna Bennett 2-0, in his last 16 match, and beating Andrew Doherty 2-1, in a close fought Quarter Final match.
In the semi final he took on Michael Kearns of Glenalbyn Red, winning the match with a convincing 2-0 win.
The final was a late showdown against Clayton Cregan of the Classic Snooker Club. Clayton got off to a good start winning the first frame on the black ball. Ivor quickly levelled the match at 1-1 and pressed on in the final frame, getting stronger, putting in an 80 break to take control of the decider.
Clayton held his own and pushed the match, best he could, down to the last three balls. Ivor played a telling snooker on the blue behind the pink and forced the chance he needed to pot blue and pink to take the frame and match.
Clayton had a good run to the his first DBSL final, beating Brendan Murphy 2-1 in the pre-lim round and the steady Conor Harkin 2-1 in the last 16. Clayton then progressed to beat Ray Kearns 2-0 in the quarter final and Joey Kenny 2-1 in the semi final match.
Ivor also had the highest break of the tournament with an an attempt at a maximum break in the Final, breaking down on 80.
